Parents can stay connected with the Parent Portal app. I will update student grades weekly. Upcoming assignments will also be listed on the app so you can stay informed about what your student is working on. Student attendance will also be tracked on this app. You will receive an alert if your student is marked absent or tardy with explanation for the attendance record.
Students are responsible for turning in assignments by their due date. This is part of being a responsible fifth grade citizen. All late work received a deduction of 5 points for each day it is late. Parent will be notified about late work through the Parent Portal app.
I allow students to improve their grades by reworking problems missed on graded assignments. Students are required to attend a tutoring session to work on extra credit. Tutoring sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for one hour. If students need additional support, additional tutoring sessions can be scheduled in advance.
Students will have nightly homework Monday through Thursday, and reading expectations. Homework should be completed with minimal or no assistance. This is my chance to gauge student mastery of concepts. Students should also be reading at least 15 minutes each night.
